7 Red Flags Begging You to Go to the Dentist

Mouth sores that don’t heal
When an oral ulcer or other mouth sore doesn’t heal in 7 to 14 days, it’s time to call Miracle Dental for an appointment. Oral cancers first appear as sores or discolored patches, and early detection is key to successful treatment.

Bleeding gums

Gum disease afflicts about half the population, and if we treat it early in the gingivitis stage, treatment is less invasive and more effective. If your gums bleed, feel sore, or are red or otherwise discolored, or if you notice pus at the gumline, it’s time to give us a call!

Chronic bad breath

Embarrassing–but treatable. Bad breath, also known as halitosis, can strike anyone at any time. However, issues like cavities, gum disease, and hidden infection in your mouth could be at the root of your bad breath. We can help.

Lingering dental sensitivity

Sensitive teeth warrant using desensitizing toothpaste, but if tooth sensitivity doesn’t subside, you might be well served by dental bonding, gum treatment, or restorations. Your teeth should not hurt.

Shifting, crowding, or loose teeth

If you’ve lost one or more teeth and they weren’t replaced, your remaining teeth could begin drifting out of position. If you’re in your late teens or early twenties, wisdom teeth may need to be extracted. And if you have loose teeth, gum disease may be the cause. We can diagnose all dental issues, then work with you on a practical, affordable treatment plan if necessary.

Jaw pain and clicking

Jaw pain, clicking or popping jaw joints, headaches….these are symptoms of TMJ disorder. When the jaw joints aren’t properly seated and/or jaw muscles and related soft tissues become inflamed or irritated, you can experience ongoing discomfort. You may need a TMJ assessment so the dentist can determine whether TMD treatment will help relieve your symptoms and protect your teeth.

It’s been over six months since your last visit

The American Dental Association and most, if not all, authorities and organizations in dentistry recommend visiting the dentist every six months, or more often if advised. These checkups and cleanings allow us to find problems early, treat them, and prevent more complex future issues from arising. The hygienist thoroughly cleans teeth and charts gum pocket depths to compare with previous recordings. If gum pockets exist and are deepening, gum disease treatment is necessary.

Do you need to see the dentist? YES!

The question should not be Do I need to see the dentist?, but rather When do I need to see the dentist? The answer is simple: every six months or as advised by your dentist, as well as any time you notice abnormalities or experience symptoms like pain, sensitivity, or bleeding gums. We will help you, but you have to come to the office so we can sleuth out your dental problems and set you on a path for excellent oral health, comfy function, and gorgeous smiles for life.
